The Story

The pomegranate (Punica granatum) is one of humanity's oldest cultivated fruits, originating in the region between Iran and northern India and spreading throughout the Mediterranean world. Ancient Persians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans prized it for its beauty and medicinal properties — it symbolised fertility, prosperity, and eternal life in numerous cultures and appears in some of humanity's earliest written texts.

In Turkish culture, pomegranate (nar) holds deep significance — pomegranate juice stalls are ubiquitous across Istanbul and throughout Turkey, where the fruit is freshly squeezed into drinks that have been consumed for centuries. The pomegranate is also a symbol of abundance in Turkish tradition, used in everything from wedding rituals to New Year celebrations.

At Cappadocia, our pomegranate sparkling combines the rich, tart intensity of pomegranate juice with sparkling water — a refreshing, antioxidant-rich drink that connects to the Turkish pomegranate tradition and offers a sophisticated non-coffee alternative on our drinks menu.
