The Story
Avocado (Persea americana) has been cultivated in Central America and Mexico for at least 7,000 years, where the Aztecs called it "ahuacatl" and considered it a fertility food. Spanish conquistadors brought it to Europe in the 16th century, and by the 20th century it had spread to tropical regions worldwide — including Vietnam and Indonesia, where avocado smoothies became part of local food culture.
The avocado smoothie (sinh tố bơ) is particularly popular in Vietnam, where it is blended with sweetened condensed milk into a thick, rich green drink. The concept of blending avocado into a cold drink seems counterintuitive given the fruit's savory Western associations, but its naturally buttery, mild flavour translates beautifully to a sweet context, and its high healthy fat content makes for an extraordinarily creamy texture.
At Cappadocia, our avocado smoothie blends fresh avocado with honey and coconut milk — dairy-free by nature, naturally creamy without ice cream, and genuinely nourishing. It's a satisfying, filling smoothie that provides healthy monounsaturated fats, potassium, and fibre alongside its lush, green flavour.
