The Story
Stanley Street in Darlinghurst is one of Sydney's most storied eating streets — for decades it was the city's Italian quarter, home to the cafés and trattorias that introduced Sydney to espresso culture in the 1950s. As the neighbourhood evolved, it became a broader destination for food lovers, and today the stretch between Oxford Street and Liverpool Street represents some of the city's most vibrant casual dining.
Cappadocia Café sits on Stanley Street as part of that living history. The Stanley Big Breakfast is our way of naming ourselves as part of the street's story while bringing something distinctly ours to it: the beef sausage, pastirma, and toasted sourdough give the classic Australian big breakfast a Turkish inflection without abandoning the form everyone knows and loves.
The full plate: two eggs your way, beef sausage, pastirma (the air-dried cured beef that the area's Ottoman-descended community has treasured for generations), two hash browns, garlic mushroom, roasted tomato, baked beans, and toasted sourdough. It is unabashedly large. It is intentionally generous. It is Stanley Street.
