Discover the magic of a proper Turkish breakfast in the heart of Darlinghurst. From simit to menemen, here's everything on our board and why locals love it.

If you've never sat down to a proper Turkish breakfast, you're missing one of the world's great morning rituals. At Cappadocia Cafe in Darlinghurst, Sydney, we've brought the full kahvaltı experience — that's the Turkish word for breakfast — to Stanley Street, and Sydneysiders can't get enough of it.

What Is a Turkish Breakfast?

A traditional Turkish breakfast isn't one plate — it's a spread. Think of it like a mezze, but for the morning. You'll find cheeses, olives, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, honey, jam, bread and Turkish tea all arriving at once. The idea is to graze slowly, sip your tea and enjoy good conversation.

Our Turkish Breakfast Board — $32

Our most popular dish. Choose from Sucuk & Eggs, Menemen or Kuymak as your main. Alongside it comes black and green olives, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, jam, honey, butter, 4 Turkish bread, 2 Cheese Börek Rolls and a glass of Turkish Tea. It's a complete morning in one board.

The Ottoman Breakfast Feast — $75 (Serves 2)

For a bigger occasion or a lazy weekend, our Ottoman Feast has Sucuk & Eggs, Menemen, Simit, 6 Turkish Bread, 2 Cheese Börek Rolls, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber, Jam, Honey, Mixed Nuts, Dried Apricot, Black and Green Olives, Pastirma, Beef Mortadella, Seasonal Fruit, Turkish Halva, Greek Yogurt, Tulum and Feta Cheese — all served with bottomless Turkish Tea.

Standout Turkish Breakfast Dishes

  • Menemen ($20) — scrambled eggs cooked with Roma tomatoes, bullhorn peppers and spices, topped with melted mozzarella and toasted Turkish bread. Vegetarian.
  • Cilbir ($20) — a bed of labneh yogurt, cooked spinach, two poached eggs finished with seasoned burnt butter. One of Turkey's oldest breakfast recipes.
  • Kuymak ($19) — a traditional Black Sea dish of corn flour, butter and special melting cheese. Rich, comforting and unlike anything else on Sydney's menus.
  • Simit Tava ($21) — sucuk, eggs and mozzarella sandwiched in a sesame-crusted Turkish bagel. Our take on the Istanbul street staple.
